Our second exclusive this week comes from Camden-based duo Balsamo Deighton, with a world-first look at their brand new video
This week’s second exclusive comes in video form, as the Camden, London-based duo of Steve Balsamo and Rosalie Deighton – AKA, more simply, Balsamo Deighton – kindly give Songwriting readers the first chance to see the video for their song Blue. The track is taken from their debut album Unfolding, which was released in February.Balsamo Deighton were formed some 10 years ago when the pair met while recording their respective debut solo albums at the same London studio, and, in their words, “bonded over a love of 70s singer-songwriters, country music and cake”. They cite the likes of Emmylou Harris, Gram Parsons, Alison Krauss and Steve Earle as key influences, and recently toured with Colin Blunstone of The Zombies. A UK tour with Judith Owen is also in the offing this November.
They say of Blue itself: “Blue was written after a period of loss and transformation, but is played with a positive and upbeat outlook.” In the video, Rosalie is played by her six-year-old niece Freyja, while Steve is played by his four-year-old son Frankie.
See what you think…
